This project is located in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. Its owner, an architecture practitioner, hopes to use it for business receptions. The design is based on the most commonly used geometric combinations in architecture, with each functional area being deftly defined. Elements of circles and ovals are integrated into every corner of the design, and gradually transform into symbols of space, rendering a sense of softness and vibrancy. Gratings at the staircase are designed to ensure natural light and ventilation indoors. As the sunlight shines on them and spills across the stone grain floor, the flowing light and shade lend a touch of tranquility. The stone material of the hall walls is semi-smooth and semi-convex carved with gold foil-decorated ginkgo leaves patterns. While perfectly embellishing the marbling, they also highlight the features of the material itself by the contrast of texture. The walls of the tearoom are mainly made of metal, juxtaposed with wood grain decorations, giving prominence to the metallic feeling. The curved walls make the flow of light and shade reflected on the metal softer, on which the bird decorations bring an air of Mother Nature to once dull walls, and the patterns showing birds flying back to their nests echo the scenery outside the window. The fusion of wood, stone and geometric elements creates a poetic aura of returning to simple nature, thus offering a cozy sense of getting back to basics.
