24, the rewarding ceremony of eastern Guangdong areas of IAI Biennial Rewards was held at Shantou. The ceremony witnessed the golden rewards in the respect of design concept, public space, residence space. Changcheng He(chairman of IAI), Zhengsheng Yin(art department of architect and urban design college of Tongji university), Simin Luo(senior designer on environmental art), they came to the spot to share their experience and made comments.

It was the first time for IAI to grand its Biennial Rewards in east Guangdong areas. There were about 30 pieces of works by 27 designers which survived to the finals after tough decision.

Simin Luo said that the perfect design rending was characteristic of the design projects in east Guangdong, their design rendering was better than many others across the country, and he also believed that these designers were skilled in home design but less skilled in the office, they had great potential in the Chinese style design but it was a shame for the lack of Chaozhou-Shantou culture.

Each year, IAI considers the theme related to the global issue or the most concerned topic among the public to raise designers’ awareness to care about our society, our earth, and our future. For example, green design in 2008, Chinese-style design 2009, and low-carbon design 2010,IAI advocates these designers to follow closely our living environment with global perspective, involving themselves in designing some creative and low-carbon projects, shoulder their responsibility to change the way we live so as to open a new chapter for a better life.
